This page highlights the curriculum offered by the Bsc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree from the University of Cape Town. It offers an accurate insight into the skills which I have gained both as a student in the classroom as well as the experiential learning required for complete learning.

Syllabus
Approved experience employed in any of the built environment disciplines (construction; engineering; housing; property development and management; quantity surveying; relevant local authority; provincial and national government departments).

Assessment
Students are required to submit a written report in accordance with the guidelines set out by the department, which is endorsed by their employer/s, on the nature and duration of the experience obtained in the workplace.
“The curriculum of the BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying programme equips graduates to:
Undertake financial planning and control of new and existing facilities; undertake property development and property portfolio management; value property; apply appropriate quantity
surveying techniques to building and civil engineering projects; perform appropriate professional
quantity surveying management functions; work effectively in teams; and undertake research and produce reports.
The aims of the degree are to provide employable professional graduates to the Quantity Surveying Profession; to fully satisfy the criteria for accreditation in terms of the requirements of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the South African Council for the
Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP); and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).”
